These assemblages were first mounted as part of the Shed Show at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, historically the major Atlantic entry point for immigration to Canada.
Part I was a labyrinth made of obsolete curved office partitions, occupying 20 feet in diameter. Part II was a wheel made of cheap, chromed steel and vinyl waiting room chairs, that stood 12 feet in diameter. The furniture was borrowed from the Department of Supply and Services. The artist’s material contribution was limited to aluminum clips and steel bolts (Part I) and chromed clips (Part II) that held the pieces in place.
In 1997, If you lived here you would be home by now! (Part I & II) was remounted for Man Size, an exhibition of large-scale constructions, curated by Kenneth Hayes, at 469 King St. W. in Toronto.
